Preparing for our session on Monday - Instructions for Setup/Using MeclabsAI Operator Skill in Cl...
Based on all the requests we got in the last AI Guild session, I'll be hosting 'Build Together: Create your first conversion-focused system driven by AI' on Monday, November 9th at 2 pm EST. The details are live now (right here - https://meclabs.com/workshop) and here are some steps you can take to prepare for the workshop, so you can be ready to start building in MeclabsAI with your agents!
Instructions - How to Install the MeclabsAI Operator Skill and Claude/GPT for Chrome
Part 1 — Download the skill from the lab
Sign in at meclabsai.com.
On the home page you see after you sign in, find "Add the skill to your preferred LLM."
Download the skill. You'll get a .zip file.
Don't unzip it. Leave it as a zip, and note where it saved (usually your Downloads folder).
You'll use this one zip file for both Claude and ChatGPT.
Part 2 — Install the skill in Claude and/or ChatGPT
The steps are the same in both assistants.
In Claude (claude.ai or the Claude desktop app)
Sign in and start a new chat.
Drag the zip file from your Downloads folder into the message box.
Type or say: "Help me set this skill up."
Do what Claude asks. If it asks you to turn on a setting or approve a permission, do it, then go back to the chat.
In ChatGPT (chatgpt.com or the ChatGPT desktop app)
Sign in and start a new chat.
Drag the same zip file into the message box.
Type or say: "Help me set this skill up."
Follow its prompts the same way.
You can install the skill in one assistant or both. Your conversations here are saved in your account (→Conversation History), so whichever assistant you use can read them and build from them.
Part 3 — Install Claude in Chrome
Before you start, check two things:
A paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Ultra, Team or Enterprise). Installing the extension costs nothing, but it doesn't run on the free plan.
Google Chrome on a desktop computer. It doesn't work in Edge, Brave or other Chromium browsers, or on a phone.
Steps
In Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store and search for "Claude." Pick the one published by Anthropic.
Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
Pin it: click the puzzle-piece icon at the top right of Chrome, then the pin next to Claude.
Click the Claude icon to open the side panel, then sign in with your paid Claude account.
When Claude asks for site permissions, grant them one site at a time. Start with sites you know.
Leave "Ask before acting" on. Claude will then check with you before it clicks, types or submits anything on a page.
Optional: connect Chrome to the Claude desktop app
In the desktop app, click your initials (bottom left) → Settings.
Go to Customize → Connectors.
Find Claude in Chrome, click Configure, and toggle it on.
In any chat where you want Claude to use the browser, turn it on from the Connectors drop-down. It's off by default in each conversation.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an admin may have to enable the extension and approve which sites it can use.
Part 4 — Install ChatGPT in Chrome
Know this first: OpenAI retired its separate Atlas browser in August 2026. The official ChatGPT extension for Chrome now does that job, so don't go looking for Atlas.
Steps
In Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store and search for "ChatGPT." Install only the extension published by OpenAI. Many lookalikes from other publishers use similar names and icons.
Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
Pin it from the puzzle-piece menu.
Click the ChatGPT icon and sign in with your ChatGPT account.
Approve the permission prompts as they come up.
Two ways to use it
Click the extension icon on any page and ask ChatGPT to help with a task there.
In ChatGPT on the web, type @Chrome in your message, or pick an open tab from the + menu.
OpenAI says availability can depend on your plan, region, device and workspace settings. If you're on a company workspace and can't find the extension, ask your workspace admin.
Part 5 — Check that it all works
Open a new chat in Claude or ChatGPT (the one you installed the skill in).
Ask: "Using the MECLABS AI Operator skill, do the following… [Insert Prompt]
Some tips if something goes wrong"
The zip won't attach: make sure you're dragging the zip itself, not an unzipped folder, and that you started a new chat.
Claude in Chrome won't sign in: check that you're on a paid plan and using Google Chrome, not Edge or Brave.
Claude can't use the browser from the desktop app: turn on the Claude in Chrome connector for that conversation. It's off by default.
You can't find the ChatGPT extension: search by publisher (OpenAI). If it still isn't there, it may not have reached your plan, region or workspace yet.
